Research Center for Science and Technology (Gene Research Center, Instrumentation Analysis Center, Equipment Support Office)
Information about Research Center for Science and Technology (Gene Research Center, Instrumentation Analysis Center, Equipment Support Office).
outline of Research Center for Science and Technology
Research Center for Science and Technology is comprised of an "Instrumental Analysis Facility" that trains personnel with advanced skills by implementing an "Educational Program" that intensively teaches the principles, structure, and utilization techniques of equipment, as well as practical training using specific test samples, and a "Instrumentation Analysis Center" that performs safety management to prevent the impact on biodiversity caused by Gene Research Center and the use of genetically modified organisms, as well as research and development of analytical techniques and gene and genome science techniques. The Center aims to improve and enhance the overall support function for the promotion of academic research at the university and to advance education and research.
Furthermore, with the support of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, we established an Facilities Support Office under Research Center for Science and Technology in September 2011 in order to improve the university's education and research environment by establishing a management system for shared equipment and making effective use of limited resources.
Gene Research Center
Gene Research Center was established in 1994 and reorganized as a facility within Research Center for Science and Technology in April 2008. Its purpose is to carry out genetic recombination experiments and educational research and development involving the use of genetically modified organisms, as well as to provide education and training on safety management.
The facility is equipped with a genetic laboratory that is compliant with various regulatory levels (P1 to P3) for genetically modified organisms, DNA extraction machines, next-generation and capillary-type DNA sequencers, mass spectrometers, fluorescent image analyzers, preparative ultracentrifuges, confocal laser microscopes, particle guns, etc. It is not only available for use within the university, but also for shared use outside the university, holds open seminars for working adults, and promotes collaborative research with other universities and companies.

Instrumentation Analysis Center
Instrumentation Analysis Center was established in 1991 and reorganized as a facility within Research Center for Science and Technology in April 2008. The facility aims to train personnel with advanced technical skills by implementing an intensive "educational program" that teaches the principles, structure, and utilization techniques of instruments, as well as providing practical training using specific test samples.
This facility is equipped with nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy equipment, mass spectrometers, single crystal structure analyzers, multipurpose high-power X-ray diffractometers, transmission and scanning electron microscopes, surface analyzers, X-ray microanalyzers, and thin film material property analyzers. In order to make effective use of the equipment shared by the university, this facility's education and research field is mainly instrumental analysis using the large equipment installed in the facility, and it centrally manages the usage status of the main analytical equipment installed on campus and trains human resources who can utilize such analytical equipment. It also coordinates the use of large or specialized analytical equipment installed in domestic and overseas research institutions other than our university.
In order to promote the mutual use of analytical equipment, we hold joint equipment usage seminars with neighboring universities.

Facilities Support Room
The Facilities Support Office was established in September 2011 under Research Center for Science and Technology. It is responsible for the management of the University's shared equipment, making effective use of limited resources, and promoting the development of an optimal education and research environment. It is responsible for the following activities:
1. Strengthening technical support for shared equipment and establishing equipment operation technical training programs
2. Building a shared equipment management database and creating a plan for reuse and disposal of shared equipment
3. Establishment of a "Facility Management System" for managing the operation status, reservation status, usage permission, fee collection, maintenance budget, etc. of shared facilities on campus
The development of the facility management system is being carried out on the premise that it will use the National Institutes of Natural Sciences' University Collaborative Research Facility Network System.
